The Bradenton Tummy Tuck Process
Dr. Sessa wants his patients to feel informed and comfortable before they even come in for a consultation. Knowing the process from the consultation to the recovery period can help patients get a good idea of what to expect. So, let’s start with the first step, the consultation.
The Consultation
Dr. Sessa offers in-office consultations at The Sarasota Surgical Arts Center or through online video chat. Dr. Sessa must examine the abdominal muscles, skin amount and texture, and any other attributes that may benefit from the procedure. This can be done through an office visit, online video chat, or emailed pictures.
Dr. Sessa will also need a full medical history of the patient to ensure there are no underlying complications that could affect the surgery. He will need to know of any prior surgeries, current medications, allergies, smoking history, and BMI. This helps him evaluate every aspect of the patient to ensure the procedure is the best option for them.
Pricing is based on the patient’s needs and the extent of the surgery. At the end of the consultation, Dr. Sessa will provide them with their specific quote and discuss any payment options or plans available for their Bradenton tummy tuck.
The Procedure
Dr. Sessa will begin the procedure by making a slender incision on the border of your pubic region or your panty line. Next, he will begin to remove any excess skin and fat and tighten the abdominal muscles. Once the excess skin and fat are removed, and the muscles are fully tightened, he will connect the remaining skin to the incision site to allow for a toned and sculpted stomach.
It’s common for patients to combine a tummy tuck with other surgeries. Dr. Sessa can use liposuction to remove any other unwanted fat and inject the fat into the breasts or buttocks. He can also perform a breast augmentation along with a tummy tuck. Any combination of these surgeries is referred to as a mommy makeover.
The Healing Process
The recovery for a Bradenton tummy tuck varies from patient to patient. However, Dr. Sessa will give every patient some general instructions to promote the most effective healing. Some instructions include:
- No leaning over or lying flat for two weeks (to prevent unnecessary strain on the incision site)
- Use of a compression garment
- Walking daily
- No exercise or extreme physical activity
- Drink at least eight glasses of water a day
- Avoid any unhealthy food
- No baths or swimming to avoid submerging stitches until cleared
- Avoid lifting arms above your head
- Rest and get adequate sleep
- Attend all post-op appointments with Dr. Sessa
Dr. Sessa will prescribe medication to ease any discomfort, swelling, or pain arising after the surgery. Side effects last for a week or two, but any longer side effects are rare. As long as patients follow all healing instructions and attend regular post-op appointments, the healing process should be smooth.
