DO: Sleep on your back
Breast implants can take a full year to settle. Though, immediately after surgery is when they are most sensitive to shifting. Lay on your back to avoid pressure from your body changing the positioning or influencing the settling implants
DON’T: Wear normal bras (at first)
After surgery, you will be provided a surgical bra designed to keep you comfortable and support your breasts. It is understandable that most patients want to shift to wearing normal bras as soon as possible However, regular bras can put too much pressure on your healing breasts, may irritate or reopen the incisions, or cause complications.
DO: Be patient
Your results will take time. It is common to feel depressed or anxious about the look of your breasts. Be patient with them and yourself. Of course, do not hesitate to call the office with questions or concerns.
DON’T: Smoke
Smoking slows down the healing process. In general, it also lessens skin laxity and puts patients at high risks. Dr. Sessa may ask you to stop smoking for a few weeks before the procedure and at least until a certain point following surgery.
